About Fiona

Fiona has over 25 years of experience dealing with complex financial divorce settlements. Her cases regularly include companies, partnerships, trusts and unusual pensions such as SSASs and FURBS. Fiona acted for the wife in the reported case D v D (2010) EWHC 138, which involved a family farming business. There are very few asset structures that she has not come across before. Legal 500 stated that Fiona has “the knowledge and attention to detail to provide a top tier service”.

Fiona recognises that divorce is a difficult time for most. Having complex finances can add to that stress. Fiona provides clients with a clear strategy and pragmatic advice, whilst at the same time being supportive and understanding. Clients need to know what the process entails, how you are going to help them through it and that you are going to do your best to get them a great financial settlement. Chambers and Partners described her as a “formidable, detailed and pragmatic lawyer”.

In addition to divorce settlements, Fiona regularly acts for clients where a financial claim has been made on behalf of their children (Schedule 1 cases), often for the provision of a house and “top up” child maintenance.

Fiona also advises upon pre-nuptial and post nuptial agreements. Often the aim of these is to protect one spouse’s business interests if there is a divorce.

Many of her clients are entrepreneurs who have developed very successful businesses. She has also acted for professionals, sportsmen, entertainers and their spouses. Whilst most of Fiona’s clients are based in the North West, she regularly has clients who are based in London and abroad.
