About Jess
Jessica graduated from Northumbria University with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and qualified in 2014. Since 2018 she has been a member of the Law Society Children’s Panel, and she specialises in private and public law Children Act proceedings, including child protection matters, and is particularly experienced in representing the interests of children, parents, grandparents and local authorities at all levels of the Family Court in proceedings. Jessica regularly undertakes her own advocacy.
In particular, Jessica has experience of the most complex cases including serious non-accidental injury, adoption and sexual abuse cases. She represented the child in the case of Re: B (DOLS) [2021] EWHC 2472 (Fam) and has provided expert advice to news outlets including the BBC.
Jessica has previously held roles at Hewitt’s Solicitors in the North East of England, before moving to Manchester and joining McAlister Family Law in 2019.
She is a strong believer in giving back to society, having been on the Board of Trustees for a women’s refuge in the North East of England, and has also spent time in India volunteering with a children’s charity.
