Beyond Corporate, a trailblazer in the legal sector and recipient of the Corporate Law Firm of the Year accolade at the North West Dealmakers Awards 2024, announces the appointment of James Shallcross as Corporate Partner.
James’ arrival marks a significant milestone in Beyond Corporate’s continued expansion and its commitment to delivering outstanding legal expertise to a growing portfolio of clients.
Beyond Corporate’s corporate team has solidified its reputation as one of the most dynamic and high-performing teams in the region. Despite operating as a boutique practice, it consistently competes at the highest level, securing and executing deals of national and international significance. Notably, in 2024, the corporate team played a central role in advising on the region’s most high-profile and widely watched corporate transaction: Onex Partners V’s majority investment in Morson Group.
James is the fourth Partner to join the corporate team alongside Jim Truscott (Head of Corporate), Mark Lupton and Stephen Chadwick. He will collaborate closely with the broader team to drive continued success. This expansion reflects the increasing demand for the team’s services and its commitment to attracting top-tier talent to support its ambitious growth strategy.
James brings extensive experience to the team, predominantly in domestic and international corporate, commercial and finance transactions, with a particular focus on regulated industries. His unique combination of private practice and senior in-house roles will strengthen the corporate team’s client offering, enabling the team to provide even more specialist, strategically focused advice.
Having started his career at a national law firm, James advanced to an international practice specialising in complex finance transactions before transitioning to in-house roles, including Head of Legal (Strategic Transactions) at a listed PLC and Group General Counsel at a social housing investment platform. With his deep understanding of regulated environments, high-stakes negotiations and business complexities, James is well-equipped to deliver legal solutions that align with clients’ broader commercial and financial goals. He also holds an MBA in Global Banking and Finance, enhancing his ability to integrate legal strategies with commercial imperatives.
