Partner Liz Cowell has had a busy few days in Dubai, attending the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL) conference.
This one and a half day conference offered an excellent opportunity for lawyers and other professionals from the UAE and the wider region to discuss current issues of concern to lawyers, and other professionals, involved in private client and family law work. Liz is a member of the International Academy of Family Lawyers, and her expert knowledge of cross-jurisdictional nature of family work makes her much sought after by clients who are residents abroad, from the USA and Canada to the Netherlands, Dubai, Spain, France, China, Brazil, Scotland and Australia.
Many vital issues were discussed, from child abduction to division of assets on divorce – why jurisdiction matters, to recognition and enforcement of foreign judgements, child relocation and more.
THe IAFL is a worldwide association of practising lawyers, all recognised by their peers as the most experienced and skilled family law specialists in their respective countries. We’re looking forward to welcoming Liz back into the office and getting a de-brief of all that was discussed.
